Fire at EXXARO’s Grootegeluk Reductant’s plant in Lephalale A fire accident occurred on Wednesday, 21 March 2018 at the Grootegeluk Reductants plant in Lephalale, Limpopo. The fire was brought under control with assistance from fire units from both Matimba and Medupi Power Stations. Commenting on the incident Executive Head Stakeholder Affairs, Mzila Mthenjane said, the safety of our employees is our number one priority and we are pleased that there were no injuries to employees from the accident.
The cause of the fire is under investigation by both the DMR and an operation’s multi-disciplinary team consisting of Safety and Health and Engineering specialists.
There were no disruptions to the Coal operations.
