NERSA Approves Registration of Cennergi’s 80MW Lephalale Solar Project for Exxaro Resources’ Grootegeluk Mine

Cennergi Holdings Ltd (Cennergi), a wholly-owned subsidiary of diversified mining and renewable energy company Exxaro Resources (Exxaro), has welcomed the registration of its 80MW Lephalale Solar Project (“LSP”) by the National Energy Regulator of South Africa (NERSA) and the Regulator Executive Committee earlier this week. LSP is the first phase of the decarbonisation of Exxaro’s flagship Grootegeluk mine at Lephalale in Limpopo province. The Managing Director of Energy at Exxaro & Cennergi, Roland Tatnall, expressed the company’s excitement at this milestone and its role in accelerating Exxaro’s target of carbon neutrality by 2050. Exxaro Belfast Coal sets up organic food garden to help Phumulani Agri Village community generate income

To help sustain the resettled community of Phumulani Agri Village in rural Mpumalanga, Exxaro Resources’ Belfast mine initiated an organic food garden project, which aims to empower the community with Agri-skills development, maintaining social capital, and creating avenues for income generation. The primary objective of the project includes creating sustainable decent small scale agriculture related jobs. The project will receive funding of more than R1.6-million from Exxaro’s Belfast digital and connected mine. In 2020, Exxaro concluded the Belfast Resettlement programme in the Nkangala District Municipality. As part of the programme, Exxaro facilitated the relocation of 32 households

Cennergi empowers AmaMfengu community with enterprise development and community upliftment projects

Tsitsikamma Wind Farm Trust (TWFT) hosted a ceremony on 20 April 2022 to hand over five key projects to the AmaMfengu community on behalf of the Tsitsikamma Community Wind Farm (TCWF) in Tsitsikamma, Eastern Cape as part of their drive to empower the local community. Cennergi (Pty) Ltd, a wholly owned subsidiary of Exxaro Resources, is the majority (75%) shareholder within the TCWF. Exxaro launches the gender-based violence & femicide 100 day challenge

Exxaro Resources has launched the Gender Based Violence and Femicide (GBVF) 100-Day Challenge, alongside the Presidency and the Minerals Council of South Africa (MCSA). This campaign, which will run between April to June 2022, is meant to encourage employees and employers to create a safer environment for women in the workplace. Exxaro and the Gordon Institute of Business Science (GIBS) Entrepreneurship Development Academy ([EDA][1]) are proud to announce the first graduation ceremony for the Contractor Development Programme cohorts, which occurred on 12 April 2022. In November 2020, Exxaro, one of South Africa's largest black-empowered, diversified mining and renewable energy solutions companies, launched the Contractor Development Programme in partnership with the GIBS EDA, which was launched in 2012. Historic return of rhinos to Mozambique

The Governments of Mozambique and South Africa are pleased to announce the planned reintroduction of rhinos to Zinave National Park in 2022. After becoming locally extinct more than 40 years ago, diversified resources company Exxaro Resources, is spearheading a project to reintroduce both the critically endangered black rhino and the near threatened white rhino to the park. Zinave, which is co-managed between Mozambique’s National Administration for Conservation Areas (ANAC) and Peace Parks Foundation, will not only host the first founder population of both rhino species in a national park in Mozambique, but is also set to become the first “big five” national park in the country.
