We strive to create a learning culture for our employees, and ensure compliance with safety, health and environment requirements, using the e-learning platform as well as classroom-based training. In 2021, employees completed more than 80 303 training interventions on the MyNexxt e-learning platform. In addition, leadership and management, soft skills, occupational programmes, and technical training was provided by either formal academic institutions, service providers and/or our Grootegeluk and Matla training centres (accredited by the Quality Council for Trades and Occupations).

Mining for Schools Initiative

The Minerals Council South Africa has developed the Mining for Schools initiative – an online platform with educational resources for teachers and learners to reinforce, enhance and extend learning about the South African mining industry. Focusing on coal, it sheds light on one of the country’s most valuable resources and its instrumental role in South Africa’s development and industrialisation.
